The "Facts First Mongolia” National Network is actively working to combat misinformation.
The "Facts First Mongolia" Network was established in November 2023 by the Nest Center for Journalism Innovation and Development to address the surge of misinformation during elections. With the rising tide of disinformation spread by political parties and interest groups in the online space, the network was modeled after the #FactsFirstPH initiative by the Philippines' Rappler agency and adapted for Mongolia.
By June 2024, coinciding with the start of the parliamentary elections, the network had expanded to include 9 media outlets, 4 non-governmental organizations, 1 law firm, and 1 fact-checking organization as members.
Initially established to combat political misinformation, the network has now grown to include 19 member organizations. We hold regular monthly meetings to exchange insights and address current issues, ensuring a united effort in the fight against misinformation.
